A consensus study report from the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM)’s Committee on Integrating Social Needs Care into the Delivery of Health Care to Improve the Nation’s Health. The committee was convened by NASEM to examine the potential for integrating social care services into the delivery of health care with the ultimate goal of achieving better and more equitable health outcomes.

The resulting report identifies and assesses current and emerging approaches and recommends ways to expand and optimize social care in the health care setting. Contents include five healthcare sector activities to better integrate social care, an examination of the workforce needed, leveraging data and digital tools, financing social care, and more.
