Consumer Leadership was the second plenary session of November 2017’s Putting Care at the Center conference, the second annual conference of the National Center for Complex Health and Social Needs.

This panel examines the current role of the consumer in the world of complex health and social needs and explores a future in which the patient is a fundamental leader in their care. Panelists are consumers who are also leaders and innovators in this field, and they explore how storytelling and relationship building have been critical in their own personal and professional advocacy. They also describe their vision for consumers as the field of complex care continues to develop, and how conference participants can apply these lessons to their own work.
